10 Huge Casting Surprises Avengers: Doomsday Could Still Pull

There are certain rumours and fan casts that the internet often grabs hold of and that just never go away. Until they are realised, of course. One such instance was John Krasinski playing Reed Richards, which happened in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The Doctor Strange sequel was also expected by many to feature Tom Cruise as a Variant of Tony Stark, with some believing to have seen him in the trailer, but nothing came of this. Cruise was reportedly Marvel's first choice for the role all those years ago, and even with other Variant opportunities in Deadpool and Wolverine, it still has not happened.

However, Avengers: Doomsday could be the difference. Robert Downey Jr. and Tony Stark are synonymous with each other, but with the Oscar winner now playing a different character in the MCU, could the reverse also be coming? Could another actor be set to play RDJ's old role?

In fairness, of all the entries on this list, this one feels like the most unlikely, but we are talking about surprises here, and it would arguably be one of the biggest jaw-droppers the Russo Brothers could offer.
