10 Iconic Batman Comics That Could Inspire Matt Reeves' Batman Trilogy

3. Gothic

Batman Dark Victory
DC Comics

Without a doubt one of the best suspense stories Batman has ever been involved in, Gothic would be the kind heart-stopping drama and escalating sense of mystery that Superhero fans rarely see in big budget adaptations.

Here, the script is flipped as Gotham’s criminals seek Batman’s help against an unknown presence who is hunting them down. Reluctantly, Bruce agrees. This sets off a deadly game of cat and mouse as Batman unravels a dark secret from Gotham’s past; a literal deal with the devil. The stakes continue to increase all throughout the plot until it reaches the point where Batman is fighting for the lives of everyone in Gotham.

Perhaps not quite ideal for the first movie as it doesn’t focus much on Batman’s own origin, this would still be an amazing choice of source material for any of the sequels.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
