10 Infuriatingly Stale Actors That Should Try Something Different For A Change

2. Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds' ascent to the A-list followed the well-worn path taken by many other stars before him. Get your break in a sitcom? Check. Segue onto the big screen through gross-out comedies and rom-coms alongside the odd action role? Check. Headline a blockbuster franchise? It may have taken a few attempts, but Deadpool eventually managed to tick that box.

The actor's hyperactive, motor-mouthed and sardonic style has cemented his reputation as one of the biggest names in the business, but it has also resulted in a severe lack of variety. By the time the upcoming Free Guy, Netflix actioner Red Notice and sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard have been released, that'll be ten movies in a row where the 43 year-old delivers a riff on his established personal brand.

2014 black comedy The Voices allowed Reynolds to give a multi-faceted showstopper of a performance, while 2010's Buried remains one of the most underrated thrillers of the last decade, with the 6 Underground star commanding every second of the movie as the only actor that appears onscreen. Those are the kinds of Ryan Reynolds turns we want to see more of in the future once the action-orientated well runs dry.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
