10 Messed Up '80s Horror Movies That Must Be Seen To Be Believed
1. Pieces
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCCxGQetNrkIn the opening scene of Pieces, a young boy is assembling a puzzle of a naked woman. His mom finds out and is extremely angry, so he grabs an axe, hits her over the head and slices her up with a saw. That's all in the first three minutes, and things only get more insane from there. 40 years later, a series of murders take place on a college campus, where that kid has grown up and is stitching together body parts of his victims.
Pieces is a movie that would be put in the "so bad it's good" camp along with Troll 2 and The Room if only it were more well known. It's full of inexplicable moments, one of the best being when an anatomy professor suggests that a chopped up girl may have been killed by the bloodied chainsaw lying beside her. Gee, ya think? The dialogue and acting is awful, too, as in this scene when Lynda Day George yells "bastard" not once, not twice, but three times.
Yet it's far from boring like many exploitation movies, and it has just the right combination of bad dialogue and entertaining kills to make for perfect Friday night viewing with friends. Oh, and good luck making any sense of the final scene, one of the most bizarre and hilarious in B-movie history.
