10 More Sequels That Totally Ruined The Previous Movie's Ending
1. The Humans Return - Avatar: The Way Of Water

2009’s Avatar - AKA that movie that made 3D cool again for about five minutes - ended with Jake Sully living his new life as one of the Na’vi, having helped repel the human colonisers and settled down with his mate Neytiri.
And how does the sequel, 2022’s The Way of Water, begin? With the humans just coming back to the planet and starting the whole war all over again. Great.
It makes total sense in the storyline why the humans would come back to Pandora. They still need the unobtanium and aren’t going to let one tiny rebellion stop them, but the way they just turn up and go right back to terrorising the natives undoes all of the triumph felt at the end of the first film.
It doesn’t help that the villain is a revived version of Miles Quaritch, the guy Jake killed at the end of the previous movie. Did anything from that film have any lasting consequences?
Both Avatar movies essentially start the exact same way, which is a bit daft if you think about it. Still, they both made billions of dollars, and James Cameron has plenty more on the way, so it doesn't seem to have rubbed anyone the wrong way.
