6. Carlton Is Not Happy About Fortnite Stealing His Moves

Here's a question for the ages: can you even own a dance?

Well, one TV veteran clearly believes you can, because The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro is suing Fornite developers Epic and NBA 2K developers Take-Two to stop them from selling his infamous "Carlton dance" as popularised by his character Carlton Banks on the sitcom.

His complaint says that the companies have "unfairly profited" from using his likeness and from exploiting his "protected creative expression," which is probably fair enough since he's undoubtedly spent a good slice of the last decade having to put up with fans shouting "DO THE DANCE, CARLTON!" at him in the street.

His argument is that since he debuted the dance in 1991, it has remained inherently linked to him as a personality and to Carlton as a character and that Epic are faking endorsements while profiting unfairly. Naturally, he's looking for damages and to stop them profiting, just as the "inventors" of the Milly Rock and Floss have done in similar lawsuits. I'm not even fully sure what any of that means.
