Despite the fact that this new take on Doctor Doom sounds like essentially the exact same thing fans saw in the dreadful 2005 Fantastic Four movie, one rumour should make up for that (at least to some extent). The Doombots will apparently be making an appearance in the reboot, but sadly not as replicas of their master who fight in battle on his behalf. Instead, they've been described as "drones" who the villain controls with his mind. A description of what exactly they will look like hasn't been revealed, but the fact that they're referred to as drones at all offers up at least a vague idea. But at least Doom's ability to control machines using his brain (he's technopathic) hails from comic lore. For Trank's realistic and grounded take on the Fantastic Four, this approach makes a lot of sense. Even if they're essentially just flying guns, seeing the team use their abilities to take the drones down could be a lot of fun. However, it's not hard to imagine the true Doombots being brought to life if this movie was instead set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe...
