10 Most Ridiculous Moments In Spider-Man Movies

5. The Break-Up Of Peter And Mary Jane (Spider-Man 3)

Right after Harry gets his memories back thanks to plot convenience, we move from one ludicrous situation into another. So Harry blackmails Mary Jane into dumping Peter or he'll "hurt him", which she then goes along with and tells Peter she's seeing someone else, then Harry tells Peter that he's the one MJ is seeing. And all of this amounts to... not much, really.

To begin with, why does MJ even go along with this? She knows Peter is Spider-Man. Why is she afraid for his safety considering he kicked Harry's ass last time? Why doesn't she just tell Peter what's going on? It's not like Harry is going to hurt her or anything. Harry is literally watching all this go down from a distance and MJ knows it. Why doesn't she just tell Peter, "Harry is right over there. Stop him!"

But the most pressing question is why does Harry even do this in the first place? To hurt Peter, yes, but he's just going to try and kill him again anyway. Sure, these events spur Peter to put on the black suit again, but Harry doesn't know that. These are great lengths he's going to just to mess with a guy he's planning to murder regardless.

But even beyond logic, this is a really forced way to make Peter and MJ break up when something more related to their relationship or the black suit's increasing influence could have done the job. Top it all off with some of Maguire's signature weird cry acting, and you've got one really weird, non-sensical scene.
