10 Movies To Open Marvel's Phase 4 (And Why They'd Be Perfect)
2. Spider-Man 2
When it comes to continuing as the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey, Jr.'s age is undoubtedly against him. The Iron Man star is 50 years of age right now (he'll be 54 when Phase Three ends) and he will have to be replaced sooner rather than later. Step forward Tom Holland. The young English actor is set to take on the role of Spider-Man - who Marvel Studios finally secured the right to use in early 2015 - starting in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. He will follow that up with appearances in his first solo movie in 2017 and in the Avengers: Infinity War movies in 2018 and 2019. Holland's Spidey is destined to be the star of the MCU. Marvel's flagship character deserves to headline their flagship movie franchise at long last and a great way to show intent in that regard is to let him lead the way in Phase Four. A second solo Spider-Man movie as the opener in Phase Four could also introduce Norman Osborn - a man who could easily go on to be the new big-bad of the franchise after Thanos' defeat at the end of Phase Three (Dark Reign or Siege movies, anyone?).
