Having spent time together on the set of Kingsman sequel The Golden Circle, Elton John and his biographical picture counterpart Taron Egerton formed their friendship a while before filming for Rocketman even began.

Chronicling the rise, fall and rise again of music's favourite redhead, Rocketman recollects the life of Elton John, before his final rise to become an esteemed member of British pop royalty and one of the nation's most beloved performers.

Edgerton captures Elton John's famous flamboyance and dazzling spectacle (as well as spectacles!) wonderfully, but the scenes depicting a broken man tussling with alcohol dependency are some of the Golden Globe-winning actor's best.

Rocketman, not unlike Ray, leans into the flaws of the character, creating an air of raw, uncut authenticity that carries the emotional weight of the picture throughout. Elton John cited in an interview shortly after the film's release just how 'difficult' it was to relive, which is to the credit of the picture's stark honesty and Edgerton's believability.

The man himself worked closely with the cast, and has only demonstrated great pride and appreciation to his friend for portraying a life so well lived.
