10 Psychedelic Horror Movies That Mess With Your Brain

Coming from the mind of future cult icon Joe Begos (VFW), his most recent film Bliss has been described by Dread Central as a punk vampire hallucination, and that's possibly the best way to summarise this visceral outing.

After suffering a career-threatening creative block, artist Dezzy (played brilliantly by Dora Madison) will try anything to recapture her artistic drive, including taking the eponymous drug; a super-drug of sorts that has the effects of every hard substance. Following a night of hedonism and pleasure, the plan seems to have worked as her "masterpiece" has began to take shape. The only problem is that she doesn't remember working on it.

As Dezzy continues to fall into this self-destructive behaviour, Begos likewise throws the viewer into the artist's fragmented mindset by drowning them in a chaotic array of editing and a deafening metal soundtrack. Never before has chaos looked so good.

Such a hedonistic lifestyle does come with its drawbacks, though, as the painter seems to have developed a vampiric bloodlust as part of her routine of uninhibited pleasure-seeking. But could these grizzly carnal moments all be hallucinations caused by Dezzy's drug-warped mindset?

Whatever the answer may be, Bliss offers an unforgetabble horror experience.
