6. Skrulls Everywhere

Since their inclusion in Captain Marvel, Skrulls have resulted in doubt in many MCU fans, questioning whether their favourite characters have in fact been Skrulls the entire time. The shape-shifting species made a surprising appearance in a Spider-Man: Far From Home post-credit scene, revealing Nick Fury and Maria Hill as Skrulls for an indefinite amount of time. This has sparked interest into the discussion of whether other established characters are in disguise too.

With Skrull identities being announced in Marvel’s last film, there is a good chance of yet another confirmed Skrull in the upcoming movie. A frontrunner to be confirmed a shapeshifter is Thunderbolt Ross. As previously mentioned, Ross is becoming more important in the MCU since Captain America: Civil War.

With his influence on the break-up of the team, there has been speculation of the character’s motives, with a reveal as a Skrull being logical explanation, even with the Skrulls revealed as heroically aligned. That doesn't necessarily mean they all are, though... Black Widow could be an opportunity to confirm Ross as an impostor and emphasis the danger of a Skrull becoming the US Secretary of State.

Could anyone else be a Skrull? Hawkeye? Yelena? Black Widow? Maybe this could be a way to give Hawkeye any storyline or purpose, or maybe that’s wishful thinking…
