John Krasinski may have originally made a name for himself in the world of situational comedy, but it is in the world of horror where he has shone so far behind the camera, specifically in the Quiet Place series.

The original, in which the world was devastated by unexplained alien creatures who rip anything that makes a sound to shreds, was incredibly popular and has sprouted a sequel in 2020, and a spin-off in 2024. The director has now announced that there will be a third chapter in the trilogy, though quite where the story goes remains to be seen.

A Quiet Place Part II acted more like an epilogue to the original rather than a story of its own, showing what happened to the Abbott family in the immediate aftermath of Lee's (Krasinski) death, while A Quiet Place: Day One gave a boots-on-the-ground account of when the monsters first landed on Earth.

With the initial story wrapping up, the family finding a safe haven and bringing destruction to it, learning how to kill the aliens, and, of course, the prequel looking at how it all started, it doesn't feel as though there are too many obvious story routes for Part III. It will be interesting to see where Krasinski takes it, though it does have some big shoes to fill.
