Though we've known for a while that Prey director Dan Trachtenberg made a secret Predator movie, its particulars were only announced two months before it hit streaming platforms.

To the surprise of some expecting another live-action Predator movie, Predator: Killer of Killers was actually an animated anthology consisting of three stories set across distinct time periods which ultimately converge in an unexpected way.

Killer of Killers' production was completed in total secrecy until it was finally unveiled, and beyond that, the fact that it's technically a sequel to Prey rather than a spin-off - given that Prey's protagonist Naru makes a cameo near the end - was another thing fans didn't see coming.

Unlike many films on this list, though, there's no feeling whatsoever that Killer of Killers was sent out to die, rather that all involved appreciated it was a more low-key passion project for die-hard fans of the series and wouldn't have benefited from a massive marketing push.

Thankfully, between the rave reviews and solid viewership reports so far, it seems to be doing just fine.
