There are those movies that are so bad they're somehow good. There are those movies that are so bad they're just outright awful. And somewhere in between, there's the long-anticipated Super Mario Bros. movie that turned up in 1993.

In a movie full of bones of contention for fans of the Mario Bros. video game franchise, one of the biggest bugbears of the picture is the depiction of Bowser, aka Koopa, aka President Koopa, aka King Koopa, aka a totally nuts, forked tongued Dennis Hopper.

Where the lame demise of Koopa was concerned, Mario and Luigi power him with so much juice that he actually becomes a Tyrannosaurus Rex. You'd think that turning your foe into one of the most deadliest creatures in the history of mankind wouldn't be the smartest of moves, but those pesky plumbers know what they're doing, of course - with Koopa's T-Rex transformation essentially being too much power for the rogue to contain.

This excess of power reduces Koopa to a puddle of slime. Yep, a puddle of slime.

Disappointing doesn't even come close. It's no wonder Hopper would spend the post-Super Mario Bros. years deriding the movie as an embarassment.
