10 Shocking Twists That Would Ruin 2016's Biggest Movies
5. The Whole Gang's Back Together - Finding Dory
After a pair of original movies this year (the sublime Inside Out and the promising The Good Dinosaur) Pixar are returning to the sequel trough in 2016 to bring us Finding Dory, a sequel to Finding Nemo that is totally, definitely, 100% not being made because director Andrew Stanton's foray into live-action bombed spectacularly and he's ran back to a sure-fire hit. While there's not really a need to continue the story Nemo, Marlin and their memory-challenged friend, there wasn't really a need to do more Toy Story either, and look how that turned out. The idea of the film is actually a pretty novel one - Dory doesn't go missing, but is looking for her family - and it's not like the blue tang is the Mater of this particular franchise (oh god, I just had a flashback to Cars 2... shudder). Where things could crumble, however, is an over reliance on the original film, which in the twelve years since release has become a bona fide children's classic. It would be very tempting to thus cement the chances of this new film's success by bringing back all of the memorable supporting players from the first film - the veggie sharks, Darla the fish killer, the "mine" seagulls - even though doing so would undercut Finding Dory as its own, individual adventure. Oh, but John Ratzenberger's shoal of fish need to return though - lucky charm and all that.
