10 Signs The Batman Could Be A Crushing Disappointment
6. It Looks Like Another Batman Movie Grounded In Reality
Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy was superb, but it was also grounded firmly in reality. That led to many beloved elements from the comic books being abandoned, and that's something a lot of fans struggled with. Bane, for example, was just a big guy with a breathing mask rather than someone who enhances their strength with "Venom."
Zack Snyder's love of the source material admittedly proved to be a detriment at times, but his Batman was one who stepped directly out of the pages of The Dark Knight Returns.
Reeves, on the other hand, seems to be following Nolan's movie with a grounded approach that essentially explores what it would be like for Batman to exist in our world. That explains why Colin Farrell's Penguin (spotted in set photos) looks like just a regular man, and we've obviously already addressed how normal the Batsuit is in terms of appearance.
The Batman sounded like a true comic book adventure. Reeves' plan for what looks like a gritty crime story has some potential, but based on how Marvel embraces the comic books and finds such huge success, that might have been the better route to take this one down.
