10 Signs The Batman Could Be A Crushing Disappointment

5. The Same Old Faces

Batman has a massive rogues gallery, but there's something awfully familiar about this movie. It seems Reeves must be a fan of those early big screen adventures starring the Dark Knight because he's using Batman Returns' characters The Penguin and Catwoman, while also borrowing The Riddler from Batman Forever.

A modern interpretation on that trio is no bad thing, but it also feels like we're retreading old ground. Could Batman not face Clayface, Hush, or Hugo Strange? What about bad guys who are arguably a lot more original like Poison Ivy and Two-Face? We've seen them before, yes, but there's an awful lot more that can be done with them on screen.

Fans do expect mainstays like Commissioner Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth in a Batman movie, but could we not have mixed things up a little by bringing the likes of Dick Grayson (Nightwing) or Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) into the mix? That could follow down the line, but getting excited about seeing Batman battle the same old faces isn't easy.
