10 Surprisingly Good Performances In Terrible Comic Book Movies

7. Michael Clarke Duncan In Daredevil

The late, great Michael Clarke Duncan was clearly built to play a comic book movie character. Standing at a towering six foot four and weighing a scale groaning 315 pounds, the man was an absolute giant. He got a chance to throw his incredible bulk around as crime overlord KIngpin in 2003's Daredevil opposite Ben 'he loves playing a dark superhero' Affleck.

Duncan relishes in the role, his booming voice and gigantic stature radiating the intimidation and power that the comic book Kingpin is famous for. Keeping his composure for most of the film, Duncan utilises delicate gestures and even manages to give off a gentility despite his obvious strength, making his eventual throw-down with our hero even more of a delight.

It is this final clash where Duncan really gets to let lose, throwing a blind man around like a rag doll in a physical performance that helps you to forget all the terrible CGI enhanced fight sequences littering the rest of the film.

Daredevil is an interesting revisit as Affleck demonstrates some of his potential as Batman, but the real winner here is Duncan's portrayal of Kingpin as he shows us what a tremendous acting and physical presence he truly was.
