10 Terrible 2014 Films That Tricked Us With Awesome Posters

5. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Why The Poster Works: There was a long gap between Sin City and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, especially as the first had been an unexpected hit with both fans and critics. The prospect of returning to that world with the same creative team of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller was hard not to get excited over, and posters like this one promised the same sort of stylised and unique visuals which made the first movie so special. Showcasing both new cast members and returning ones, this looks a lot like a Frank Miller comic book cover come to life. Of course, a poster featuring what some claimed was a "nude" Eva Green drew the most attention! Why The Movie Sucked: The people who really loved Sin City actually quite liked the sequel for the most part, but even they had to agree that what made the first one so great had somehow been lost in the years since its release. Comic book movies weren't as prominent back in 2005, so the novelty of this world had worn off a little by the time Sin City: A Dame To Kill For rolled around. Whereas the first instalment had felt ambitious and original, the sequel at times came across almost as a parody of its far superior predecessor. Ultimately, it offered nothing new, and the fact that it was a huge flop is evidence that the interest wasn't there.
