10 Things Fans Don't Want To Accept About Fox's X-Men Movies

4. X-Men: Apocalypse Was Actually Pretty Good

X-Men: Apocalypse was Fox's attempt to make a movie in the vein of Marvel Studios, and honestly, it was mostly successful. There were some glaring issues - poor Oscar Isaac - but this was an entertaining blockbuster, and a potential step in the right direction for a franchise many fans felt needed to be brought into the future after first launching in 2000.

There were some questionable character decisions (which can likely be blamed on Bryan Singer's lack of knowledge about the source material), but also some stellar action scenes, a decent story, and a compelling villain who looked goofy, but was a refreshing change of pace.

Unfortunately, Marvel Cinematic Universe die-hards write the 2016 release off as an uninspired copycat, while longtime X-Men fans argue that it wasn't the right direction for the X-Men series.

Dark Phoenix went back to basics, of course, and proved to be a massively underwhelming disappointment. Had Fox committed to this vision, it could have been a game-changer, but don't be fooled into thinking that this was a complete disaster.
