10 Things That Would Make The PERFECT Batman Film
7. Make Sure Batman And Bruce Wayne Are Two Different Characters
I imagine when actors audition for the lead role in a Batman film, they are essentially auditioning for two parts. The first is the methodical vigilante that is Batman, and the second is the less-complex alter ego of Bruce Wayne.
An enjoyable detail about the character is that it is Batman masquerading as Bruce Wayne, and not the other way around. A Bruce Wayne that bumbles his way through Gotham's elite is a persona the Batman has created. Watching Bruce Wayne act like a rich trust-fund arse is almost as fun as watching Batman threaten criminals, and over the years there have been some diverse interpretations.
Val Kilmer's approach to this difference was paper-thin, but Michael Keaton and even George Clooney found a good balance between idiotic Bruce Wayne and (at least from Keaton's POV) stoic Batman.
The exciting thing about Robert Pattinson is that he has range; and a young Bruce Wayne who has the persona of a reckless, rich socialite in the 21st Century would be a great opposition to a deadly and mysterious Dark Knight. Much like Christian Bale, if Pattinson can find the line where Batman ends and Bruce Wayne begins, we'll be in for a good film.
