10 Things You Need To Know About The X-Men & Fantastic Four's MCU Future

7. Eternals Could Be Where Mutants Are First Introduced

There are a lot of different theories about how mutants will be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with one compelling suggestion being that The Snap will have somehow resulted in them coming into being. However, there's an even more interesting rumour than that dong the rounds which points to Eternals setting the stage for that.

The Eternals were created thanks to genetic experiments performed thousands of years ago by the ancient Celestials, and it was that same tampering with early man which ultimately led to the emergence of the X-Gene and Homo Superior.

Seeing as this movie is going to delve into thousands of years of history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some hints about mutants is highly likely. Why it would take so long for them to emerge is hard to say, but going back to that theory about The Snap, that could certainly be what ended up "activating" them.

Either way, you'll want to keep a close eye on Eternals for teases about the future of the X-Men in the MCU as this is Marvel Studios' opportunity to lay the groundwork for them.
