10 Times That Hollywood Misunderstood The Impact Of Big-Budget Movies

1. The MCU's Success Is Not Guaranteed For Other Franchises

After 2012’s The Avengers hit box office gold, nearly every major Hollywood studio went into a frenzy hoping to create a fully realized cinematic realm that could match the MCU’s incredible success. If a studio had an IP with a vast collection of characters and stories, then said property was ripe for the cinematic treatment.

Since then, most cinematic universes that came in the wake of the MCU have either been wildly inconsistent and unable to reach the source material's potential (the DCEU) or massive misfires right out of the gate (the Dark Universe). The less the said about the downright confounding Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, the better.

These studios missed many of the points that helped Iron Man and co. reach sky-high success such as crafting likable characters, common story threads and a grand overarching story and instead opted to rush their movies into cineplexes for the sake of money and popularity.
