10 Unnecessary Star Wars Details You Need To Know
6. The Majority Of Stormtroopers Are Left Handed Because Of Their Prop Guns
Despite blatantly staring you in the face since the Original Trilogy first blast into cinemas all those moons ago, you'd be forgiven for never actually clocking the fact that pretty much every single Stormtrooper ever thrust into battle by The Emperor is actually left-handed.
More than anything this appears to be a characteristic born out of real-life practicality, with the Imperial troopers' weapons being modelled on Sterling L2A3 9mm SMG's; a weapon used throughout the 1950s which sported its magazine on the left-hand side.
With many right-handed actors and extras being said to have routinely banged said magazine clips into their torso when standing in formation, the decision was seemingly made to have each and every trooper sport a left-handed stance instead when it came time to shoot.
It's worth noting that said detail was most definitely a thing of the past by the time The First Order arrived on the scene in the sequels, however, with the majority of those white-armoured menaces standing in formation with a right-handed grip of their trusty blasters.
