10 Upcoming Movies That Are Trying To Win Back Fans

How It Lost Fans

Another divisive entry in a popular franchise, The Last Jedi rubbed a lot of Star Wars fans the wrong way, mainly due to some of the story decisions that it made. This controversy even bled into Solo, which massively underperformed at the box-office and proved that Star Wars wasn't too big to fail.

Indeed, the series is in a bit of a tough spot at the moment. With directors coming and going faster than you can say "I don't like sand", and the last two movies failing to strike the right note with hardcore fans, the pressure is on for The Rise of Skywalker to wash away this simmering tension with a satisfying and entertaining conclusion to the Skywalker saga.

How It's Trying To Win Them Back

Much like Ghostbusters 2020, the play here seems to be nostalgia. Emperor Palpatine is back, Lando is back, the Death Star is back (its wreckage, at least), and even the seemingly-deceased Luke Skywalker will have a role.

That's on top of the film's Avengers: Endgame-style marketing, which is touting this entry as the grand finale, one that will wrap up eight movies worth of story, and something that you have to see if you have ever considered yourself a Star Wars fan.

At face value, it does seem a little desperate to being back ol' Palpy, but even still, it's undeniably exciting to hear that iconic, sinister voice echoing throughout the trailers, and it's hard to imagine that even the most firm of Last Jedi haters isn't at least a little curious to see how he'll factor into this movie.
