10 Ways Star Wars Episode 8 Will Probably Rip Off Empire Strikes Back

5. Lando Calrissian

The Force Awakens brought back the stars of the original Star Wars, so it€™s logical, to predict that Episode VIII might bring back Billy Dee Williams€™ Lando Calrissian, who debuted in The Empire Strikes Back. Williams has recently reprised the character - as a voice performance - in The LEGO Movie, Star Wars: Rebels, LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales and Star Wars: Detours, so it€™s easy to assume that he€™d be up for returning in live-action form, too. The bigger question is how he€™d fit into the plot. If Episode VIII goes down The Force Awakens€™ route of mimicking its equivalent original trilogy film wholesale, you could have Leia and other members of the Resistance choosing to hide out with Lando (after all, the location of their base was compromised in the third act of Episode VII). Alternatively, Lando could be in a completely different scenario all these years later. Maybe he was absent in The Force Awakens because he was away on important diplomatic duty on a different planet. Perhaps he€™s progressed from mining colony overseer/Rebel general to politician, which could make him a target for the First Order. It€™d be interesting, at least, to see his reaction to the news of Han Solo€™s death.
