11 Batman Actors Who Are No Longer With Us

8. Pat Hingle

Actor Pat Hingle portrayed Commissioner Gordon across all four of the 90s era Batman films, from 89's Tim Burton original to Batman And Robin in 1997, which means he served through three different Batmans, and witnessed the antics of The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, The Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and Mr. Freeze! Hingle had a long and distinguished career in Hollywood, starting in the fifties and running right into the 2000s, where he appeared in films like Shaft and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which was his final film role. Outside of the Batman franchise, notable appearances included Gunsmoke, The Twilight Zone, Mission: Impossible, The Andy Griffith Show, and Matlock on television, and films like Norma Rae, Hang 'em High, and Sudden Impact. He passed away in 2009 at the age of 84 from myelodysplasia, a blood-related illness. His ashes were scattered in the Atlantic.
