8. Is There Really A Dragon In That Water? - DragonHeart
Coming towards the tale end of Sean Connery's storied career, he took up a far few questionable roles, to say the least. Sure he was more often than not, the diamond in the rough, but sometimes even a legend of the acting world, such as himself, can't shine through all the flops.
So as a career is winding down what do you do? Take up a film like DragonHeart because all his lines could be recorded whilst being warm and cosy indoors.
Once DragonHeart takes a dip in a lake, the true limitations of the mid-90s become all too apparent. As he pops up pretty much all the water around this hulking mass acts as if the dragon was never there - of course, that's because he wasn't.
Water flowing should be doing all it can to get to the next destination, splashing or even causing a change in the ripples - we all know that. In this scene though, barely any attempt is made to visualise this as dragon Sean Connery gazes upon his next meal.
Now yes, this film was released some 3 years after Jurassic Park so you'd expect some improvements, but for the most part, DragonHeart looks rubbery and uncompelling. Turns out the extra 6 million dollar budget that Jurassic Park had really did make all the difference.
