The Buzz: An adaptation of Dave Eggers' acclaimed dystopian novel from the fantastic James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now, The End of the Tour), starring Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Bill Paxton and Patton Oswalt. The potential here was huge, obviously.

What We Got: This one really stings. From Ponsoldt's weirdly off-kilter direction to Emma Watson and Ellar Coltrane's awful performances, some haphazard editing and an ending that doesn't really make any sense, this film is a near-total bust (save perhaps for Tom Hanks).

What should've been a satire about the dangerous inevitability of contemporary technology was instead a low-energy, overly self-serious thriller with a ton of technical issues (including John Boyega being blatantly green-screened into several scenes).

Considering this was deemed a potential Oscar nominee ahead of its release, what a mighty tumble it's taken.
