11 Most Disappointing Movies From Summer 2017
4. War Machine
The Buzz: One of Netflix's first forays into "proper" big-budget filmmaking, War Machine comes from acclaimed director David Michod (Animal Kingdom, The Rover) and sees Brad Pitt (who also produces) leading a huge ensemble cast in this seemingly riotous, fierce war satire. Could some Oscars be on the way for the streaming giant?
What We Got: A surprisingly broad effort that fell pretty far from all those initial awards hopes, even if Brad Pitt certainly gave it his all. The likes of Tilda Swinton, Topher Grace, Scoot McNairy and Ben Kingsley were thoroughly wasted here in nothing roles, and overall it just ended being rather forgettable, even if it's hard to call it truly bad.
Given the hope that this would be a major success for Netflix, it's a shame so many talented people produced something that fell off the radar so fast.
