12 Actors Who Must Play Marvel Villains Before 2028

1. Ron Perlman - Thanos

Thanos Perlman It is surely only a matter of time before Thanos reappears in the MCU: his post-credits Avengers appearance, and that irresistible grin was undoubtedly a call forward to an important future narrative thread, and the way the MCU seems to be setting up the Infinity Gems storyline would suggest that we are heading towards the Infinity Gauntlet story arc, probably in one of the future Avengers movies. Of course, Thanos has already appeared, but like the early version of Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise, it's unlikely that we will see the original actor returning, since he was something of a stop gap, and there is one actor whose face and CV fits the character far better. Perlman has the kind of interesting face that made him perfect for Hellboy, and in that performance lies the model for his performance as Thanos: he has already proven in that performance, as well as his under-appreciated performance in Star Trek: Nemesis, that he is capable of adding the necessary spark to characters beneath heavy prosthetics, and though he somewhat unfairly attracts accusations that his appeal is based more on cult than ability, he would be the ideal choice for Thanos. Who It Definitely Shouldn't Be: Damion Poitier. He might have been the first actor to put on the Thanos make-up, but the jobbing TV actor is hardly the right profile for one of Marvel's biggest big bad. Who do you think should play villains in Marvel's upcoming slate of movies? Do you agree with our take on Kevin Feige's MCU master-plan? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread. Marvel 28
