12 Oscar Winning Actors Who Starred In Awful Horror Movies
9. Jennifer Lawrence - House At The End Of The Street
Small town suburbia set horror House At The End Of The Street was originally conceived of way back in the early noughties but floundered in development hell until it was eventually revived in 2010. Put bluntly, it might’ve been better if the movie had been left to rot in limbo.
Currently the holder of a rather embarrassing 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie is a formulaic and thoroughly unfrightening tale of a teenager played by Jennifer Lawrence who moves to a new town and starts dating the local outcast only to find out he’s a deranged killer.
Though it was panned by critics, they did praise J-Law’s efforts with what was a largely lacklustre script. Not that the bad press did her career any damage, mind.
By the time of its release in 2012 her star was already on the rise and thankfully for her this regrettable horror was overshadowed by the release of The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook that same year, the latter of which saw her awarded the Oscar for Best Actress.
