10. The Tone Is A Mix Of Earnest & Witty

The Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies were noted for their incredibly earnest, even goofy tone, which hearkened back to the old-school tenor of the comics, while the Marc Webb follow-ups adopted a more sarcastic and snarky vibe in order to update the material for contemporary audiences.

Both styles of Spidey movie had their fans and critics, so smartly, Homecoming plants a leg in each base, coming up with a movie that's got plenty of sarcasm and wit, but does a fantastic job tying this into Peter's good-hearted nature and aforementioned naivete.

Though this ambitious approach could've easily resulted in the film having an identity crisis of sorts, the two tones in fact meld extremely well.
