12 Times Terrible Acting Ruined Potentially Great Movies

10. The Godfather Part III

Nobody will try and argue that The Godfather Part III was on the same impeccable standard as its predecessors, but it's so vilified among the fanbase that it actually feels somewhat underrated at this point.

As cartoonish as the plot becomes at times, the main issue holding it back from being a great film is Sofia Coppola's shambolic performance as Michael Corleone's (Al Pacino) daughter Mary.

Writer-director Francis Ford Coppola famously cast his daughter as Mary after Winona Ryder dropped out at the last minute, and it's painfully apparent throughout.

She can't muster any palpable romantic chemistry with the brilliant Andy Garcia whatsoever (despite his firm effort), and her climactic death scene, which should be the emotional cornerstone of the movie, is rendered entirely inert by her hilariously stagey delivery ("Dad?").

Coppola insists nepotism didn't dictate him casting his daughter, but was there really nobody else who could've replaced Ryder? One suspects that had an actual actress played the role of Mary, the vitriol for this movie would be nowhere near as passionate as it is.
