12 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances That Will Kick Ass

8. Kristen Wiig - Cheetah (Wonder Woman 1984)

Kristen Wiig can't have been at the top of too many people's lists of expected actors for a villain role in the Wonder Woman sequel, but DC movies have a long track record of stunt casting actors and it paying off. After all, Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger and Zachary Levi all saw backlash when they were cast in their respective projects.

Wiig is a slightly different prospect though, because she's more in line with Jim Carrey's casting in Batman Forever. Her past has MOSTLY - though not exclusively - been in outright comedies and she cut her teeth in stand-up and on Saturday Night Live.

Intriguingly, it looks like the Wonder Woman 1984 version of Cheetah is going to draw from Tim Burton's Catwoman as Wiig plays Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, a British archaeologist who becomes possessed by the Cheetah goddess when she stumbles into an ancient ritual in the lost city of Urzkartaga. The transformation from slightly bumbling "geek" to viscious monster has been done before, but with Wiig there's a whole new dynamic.
