12 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

7. Maleficent II

Believe it or not, Maleficent II finished shooting more than six months ago, having been quietly completed last year before most had any inkling the proposed sequel was actually going ahead.

The 2014 original grossed a stonking $758.5 million worldwide, so it was just a matter of time before a follow-up materialised. But honestly, was there really that much affection for the original to merit interest in another?

This reeks of another Alice in Wonderland situation, where Disney releases a sequel several years too late, at which point audiences have moved on and it ends up tanking at the box office.

Despite most of the principal cast returning and the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer and Chiwetel Ejiofor joining the roster, there's basically zero hype on this thing. One suspects that after a 2019 jam-packed with live-action Disney movies, audiences might be feeling a little fatigued by the time this one hits screens.

Could It Be Any Good?: The original wasn't bad - not terribly good either, mind - so it probably won't suck, but it's likely to be at least as forgettable, if not more so.
