The Expendables have had three chances to make the ultimate action movie and theyve failed each time. The first was an uncomfortable mix of silly action and serious drama, the second had fun action but dreadful comedy and part three was cut down so twelve year olds could go. This is a series founded on the principle of uniting the best action stars in the world; trying to appeal to young teenagers isnt a great idea. Theyre giving it another try all the same with The Expendables 4 expected to restore the violence missing last time. Anyone who was excited by the novelty of this concept should be over that by now. The series has been fairly poor so far, the third movie killed a lot of the goodwill and theyve nearly run out of action legends to recruit. Kurt Russell, Jackie Chan and Steven Seagal are the only ones left, and the only action Seagal is fit for now is dressing himself in the morning. No word on the plot yet but it will presumably have bad jokes, aging men and a lack of Bruce Willis since he fell out with Stallone over money on part three.
