8. Mechanic: Resurrection
Does anyone even remember The Mechanic? It was that one film with Jason Statham scowling, punching and pointing guns at people. He also drove a car in it. For what it was it was entertaining but it seems unlikely that anyone was frothing for more. This most unexpected sequel will find Stathams retired mechanic (aka hitman) being forced out of retirement to kill the most dangerous men alive, which does sound quite challenging. Tommy Lee Jones will join him for a scowl-off as a gruff authority figure, alongside Jessica Alba and Michelle Yeoh. Statham has been moving away from solo movies due to dwindling box office and joining ensembles like Furious 7 and Spy. This switch has been good for him since he stole both of them. A belated sequel to The Mechanic is probably being made just to remind people he can still lead his own movies, but whether anyone is eager for another mechanical adventure is another question.
