10. Captain America: The Winter Soldier The Introduction Of The Falcon
With the exception of Samuel L. Jackson, we don't have many black superheroes in the Marvel movie universe. Blade, Storm and Electro don't exist in this continuity, and that leaves us with just Heimdall (who was originally white, and some fans won't let you forget it) and Nick Fury. To be honest, if you were being really picky, you could say that Nick Fury doesn't fall within that bracket while he's possibly the coolest thing in an eyepatch and a trenchcoat, the only superpower he appears to have is always being at least three words away from looking like he's going to shout motherf**ker (a common problem with all Jackson's characters). So really, though we live in an unprejudiced world, it's good to see characters avoid the whitewashing treatment of yesteryear. Anthony Mackie's gone on record and said what a thrill and cultural milestone it is to play the first African-American superhero, and though his backstory might play to politically incorrect stereotypes (he's a Harlem drug-dealer), he's totally right. Also, I just flat-out like the character of Sam Wilson/Falcon his telepathic bird-communication powers are a bit trippy and weird, and having been robbed of the chance to see Sam Raimi put Vulture onscreen, it'll be cool to see what they do with his flight harness I mean, look at that picture above you can't tell me that doesn't look slightly awesome? On top of this, I really like Mackie as an actor, and he's really enthusiastic for the part not only is he thrilled to have the role (see above), but he's bulking back up to Pain And Gain levels to play it. All in all, I reckon it's going to be a thrill to see him in action.
