1. Luke Crafts A New Lightsaber

Which Episode? Return Of The Jedi

Where would it be in film? Just after Vader arrives on the Death Star.

What happens? After revealing we'll soon be meeting the Emperor, Vader goes to his own personal quarters and Force-calls Luke, who is crafting his new lightsaber and preparing R2 for his mission to Jabba's Palace. This segues right into the two droids walking through the desert, serving as a nice, immediate link between the Death Star and the otherwise separate first half an hour. This scene was used to sell the deleted scenes on The Complete Saga Blu-Ray and it's easy to see why.

Should it have been cut? Although some may like to see Luke kept out of the action until later (it does reduce the tension over where Luke's lightsaber is), this is a suitably awesome scene that would kick the film off strongly. After seeing Luke so brutally brought down in the previous film, for him now to be a silent and powerful Jedi makes for a striking contrast. The only real downside is Vader being able to send voicemails with the Force, which is almost as dumb as the ewoks.
