15 Best Supporting Characters In MCU Movies So Far
6. Ned Leeds
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been known for relying heavily on humor, but very few characters have been used for nothing except full-blown comic relief like Peter Parker's best friend Ned.
Jacob Batalon pitches the character of Ned perfectly in Spider-Man: Homecoming, because how else would a teenage kid react when they discover that their closest buddy is secretly moonlighting as a superhero? From there, he tries everything to help, including embracing cliches and appointing himself as Peter's 'guy in the chair'.
This leads to some great interactions when Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. show up in Far From Home, as well as his assertions to Zendaya's MJ that he's Spider-Man's number two guy that's been in on it since the beginning. Sometimes purely comedic characters can fall flat when played too broadly, but Ned manages to balance the right amount of heart and concern for his friend's well-being alongside his barely-contained excitement at getting the inside scoop on the Avengers.
