5. Paul Feig Offered Female-Led Ghostbusters 3

ghostbusters3 It's hard to get exited about news for Ghostbusters 3, because we've been hearing about the film for the better part of three decades now. Each year it seems that the film almost goes into production, but then Dan Aykroyd hops on social media or does an interview and reports that things are in flux. Things have been in a constant state of flux ever since franchise co-star Harold Ramis passed away last year, but it seems that maybe, just maybe, things are actually moving forward. After Ramis' death, director Ivan Reitman stepped away from the film, leaving Sony with no one to shepherd the team of ghost fighters to a new generation. Now, it appears that they may have found their man: Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig. According to reports, Feig is currently "being courted" to helm the third installment of the franchise, which will serve as a reboot and focus on a new, all-female cast. THR was quick to caution that there were still kinks to be worked out, but that Feig was at least interested in the gig. That's certainly a step in the right direction, especially after The LEGO Movie and 22 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller passed on the project earlier this year, as well as Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer.
