4. The "Single Take" Sequence Is Actually 40 Shots Stitched Together - Atomic Blonde

The centrepiece of Charlize Theron's balls-to-the-wall action flick is a wildly over-the-top action sequence set in a Berlin apartment block, where Theron's spy protagonist fends off a fleet of assassins, apparently over the course of one slick, single 10-minute take.
While there are definitely a few visible seams throughout the sequence and nobody was really expecting it to actually be shot as a "oner", it was nevertheless fascinating to hear that the set-piece was actually composed of 40 single shots that were digitally stitched together.
The scene was still shot in chronological order, but using whip-pans and door frames as transition markers, CGI helped blend the takes together into a pretty damn convincing whole.
Watching the sequence, it's hard to imagine that it's really made of 40 different takes, especially considering that each take had to pick up where the previous one left off, with the exact same movement speed and camera trajectory. That it looks relatively seamless, bar a few exceptions, is absolutely mind-boggling.
