17 Movies That Critics And Fans Just Didn't Agree On

12. Terminator Genisys

Terminator Genisys
Paramount Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 4.7

IMDB Score: 6.5

Audiences were pretty forgiving with the previous Terminator sequel, Terminator Salvation, awarding it a 6.6 score compared to the critical rating of just 5.1.

That discrepancy was widened even further, then, for 2015's fifth entry into the franchise, Terminator Genisys. It's not easy to figure out exactly why general audiences responded fairly positively to the movie, other than being suckered in by its numerous callbacks to the better films in the series and the presence of Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke (no matter how awful her performance was).

Critics, meanwhile, pilloried the film for its general lack of narrative logic and stodgy, unconvincing attempt to retool the series. The critics were right this time.
