In a movie as brimming with beautiful visuals as Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, it’s hard to single out just one stunning scene to focus on but if we must it has to be the showdown between Deckard (Harrison Ford) and K (Ryan Gosling) at the former’s abandoned casino hideaway in the ruins of Las Vegas.

Pitting new blade runner against old, the scene sees the possibly related pair battle it out throwing punches left, right and centre as a holographic Elvis Presley accompanied by a chorus line of canary yellow showgirls belts out the befitting classic Suspicious Minds in between glitches to an otherwise empty lounge.

Both tense and haunting with just a pinch of humour, the scene ends with the exhausted pair admitting defeat before retiring for a drink in a near note-perfect first encounter between the two different generations of blade runner.
