9. What The Hell Are You? - Predator (1987)
John McTiernan's genre flick is without a doubt one of the best action movies of the 1980's, starting out as a generic Arnold Schwarzenegger shoot-em-up before morphing into a classic sci-fi. Full of larger-than-life characters, explosive pyrotechnics and endlessly quotable dialogue, the final showdown between the Austrian Oak and the dreadlocked extra-terrestrial is one of the action genre's greatest fight scenes as Arnie goes back to basics to defeat his technologically superior foe. After the obligatory 80's tooling-up montage that sees Schwarzenegger lay out his traps, he lets out his now iconic war-cry and lays in wait. After gaining the upper hand, in what seems to be a sign of respect the Predator ditches its advanced weaponry and challenges Dutch in hand-to-hand combat, only to be called 'one ugly motherf*cker' for its troubles. As we all know, the Predator loses the fight and self-destructs with a maniacal chuckle. However, Schwarzenegger gets the last laugh as he survives the explosion and triumphantly manages to get to the choppa, putting an end to a showdown of epic proportions.
