Just because you shouldn't root for somebody doesn't mean they're an evildoer. Sometimes, the person in question is just an idiot.

Case in point, let's look at Pet Sematary. The 1989 Stephen King adaptation revolves around Louis Creed, a doctor who moves his family beside a mystical graveyard that resurrects the buried. When Louis' dead cat is buried there and comes back as a zombie, it's obvious the cemetery is bad news.

Nevertheless, Louis buries his toddler, Gage, there after he's hit by a truck. Although Louis' decision is unwise, it's hard to blame him since he's too grief-stricken to think straight. However, to nobody's surprise, Gage returns as a malevolent ghoul and slaughters his mother, Rachel. Left with no choice, Louis gives Gage a lethal injection, losing his son for the second time.

He did wrong, but you still pity Louis, since he eventually recognised his folly. Or so it seems.

In the final scene, Louis buries his dead wife in the cursed site to bring her back to life, despite all evidence showing that's a terrible idea. Sure enough, Rachel slays Louis moments after being resurrected.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that it's meant to be a sad ending, Louis got what he deserved.
