20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Harry Potter Films

8. Why Did Snape Leave His Old Potions Book In The Potions Classroom?

Severus Snape is a reformed Death Eater, who turned traitor to Voldemort after he threatened Lily Potter because of the prophecy. But his interest in the Dark Arts is a well-known fact, especially since he€™s been trying to get the Defence Against the Dark Arts position for several years. With the return of Horace Slughorn to Hogwarts, he got the DADA job and a higher-level classroom. When he was a student at Hogwarts, he graffitied his Potions book with corrections to the recipes. He also wrote in dark spells, most notably Sectumsempra. Even given his secret relationship with Dumbledore, this is a book that should see him suspended if it were discovered. After all, Sectumsempra is capable of graphically brutalise people, as Harry shows on Draco Malfoy. So what does Snape do? He leaves it in the Potions classroom, along with a collection of other Potions books. This is not a book he should have forgotten about. At the very least, it should have been locked in his private office or trunk.
