20 Indie Movies That Will Rule 2015

14. Spring

The last time Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead teamed up, they delivered Resolution, a smart, funny horror film that simultaneously played as a love letter to the genre while also advancing it. Now they're back with a new festival charmer that's being described as Before Sunrise with a supernatural spin. In the film, a young man (Lou Taylor Pucci) in a personal tailspin flees the US to Italy, where he sparks up a romance with a woman (Nadia Hilker) harboring a dark, primordial secret. And from the look of things, that secret is going to be quite frightening. Sample review (via IGN):
"Spring is a unique, engaging and utterly beguiling feature; one that smartly defies genre conventions at every turn. On the surface it€™s a simple tale of boy-meets-girl, anchored by two stunning performances and enhanced by a fantastical twist. But dig deeper and there€™s much more at play, with filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead tackling big, important subjects in a way that€™s stylish, entertaining, and deeply affecting."
